Deer were out in full force Monday taking the opportunity to graze in fields in the Lake Saskatoon/Cutbank Lake areas near Wembley. Foraging for food is a little easier in fields this year as many still hold last year's crops.

Pussy willows are a common sight along rural roads in the County of Grande Prairie — appropriate as Monday marked the spring equinox, the official arrival of spring, in the northern hemisphere.

Driving on some of the county roads near Sexsmith, Alberta Monday it is easy to see why 50% axle weight road bans are in place in the County of Grande Prairie and on unpaved roads in the city limits. The thawing ground is very prone to damage by heavy vehicles at this time of year.
